What Is Orthodontic Treatment?
Orthodontic treatment straightens misaligned teeth and corrects bite problems so your mouth works better and looks better. As a full service dentist in Hamilton and Ancaster, Wilson East Dental offers orthodontics alongside complete family dental care, all under one roof.
The way your teeth fit together affects how you chew, speak, and clean your teeth. Crowded or crooked teeth are harder to keep clean and can lead to cavities and gum problems over time. Straightening them protects your long term oral health, not just your smile.
We treat patients of every age, from children who need early guidance to adults who never had the chance to fix their teeth. Your treatment starts with a free consultation in Ancaster, where we look at your teeth, answer your questions, and explain which options make sense for you.
Common problems treated
Orthodontic Problems We Treat
Our team treats the full range of alignment and bite issues, including:
- Crowded or overlapping teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Overbite, where the top teeth sit too far over the bottom
- Underbite, where the bottom teeth sit ahead of the top
- Crossbite and open bite
- Crooked teeth that are hard to clean
Many of these issues are genetic, while others come from habits like thumb sucking or losing baby teeth too early. Left alone, a bad bite can cause jaw pain, uneven wear, and a higher risk of decay. We use digital scans and X-rays to catch these problems early and plan the right treatment at the right time.

Treatment options
Braces, Invisalign, and Clear Aligners
We offer more than one way to straighten your teeth, so your treatment fits your life.
Traditional braces use metal or ceramic brackets and wires to move teeth into place. They handle everything from simple crowding to complex bite problems, and they remain the most reliable option for difficult cases.
Invisalign and clear aligners straighten your teeth using a series of clear, removable trays. They are nearly invisible, you take them out to eat and brush, and they suit adults and teens who want a discreet option. Ask us about Invisalign in Ancaster and ClearCorrect clear aligners at your consultation.
Once your teeth are in their new position, a retainer keeps them there. We explain every option, with clear pricing and payment plans, before you decide anything.
Traditional Braces
- Best for complex cases
- Metal or ceramic options
- Cost effective and reliable
- Usually 12 to 24 months
Invisalign & Clear Aligners
- Nearly invisible
- Removable for eating and cleaning
- Comfortable and convenient
- Great for adults and teens

We have had such an amazing experience with this dental office. Everyone is so kind, welcoming, patient, and genuinely caring. They have gone above and beyond to make sure both my family and I feel comfortable and supported. Our daughter has recently had some issues along the way, and the entire team has been nothing but understanding, compassionate, and amazing with her. They have always taken the time to listen, explain things, and make sure she feels safe and comfortable. It means so much as a parent to have a dental team that treats your child with such patience and kindness. We are so grateful to have found such an incredible dental office. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dentist who truly cares about their patients! Thank you Dr Ghane and Team! ❤️🦷Posted on Google![]()

This morning I called 8:20, was greeted by office manager. After explaining my situation of loose upper right wisdom tooth that's swelling making it impossible to chew, she got me in for 8:30. Drove in before 8:30, did some minimal paper work and had my tooth extracted and left before 9:00, as I had my son to give a ride to work at 9. I recommend this Wilson East dental office highly. Hello Dr. Ghane, I just wanted to express my sincere thanks to you and your staff for the excellent care you provided this morning. It was very kind of you all, and I was truly impressed by how efficiently and professionally everyone worked together to remove my upper right wisdom tooth. The teamwork, organization, and compassion shown throughout the procedure were remarkable and greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your prompt attention and outstanding service. I am very grateful for the care I received. I also appreciated the reminder to renew my dental coverage, which has now been completed. Thank you for the thorough aftercare instructions as well. I'm pleased to report that there were no issues with bleeding or any other complications, and my recovery has been progressing well. Sincerely, PaulPosted on Google![]()

Orthodontics for Children, Teens & Adults
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic check by age seven. Early visits help us spot problems with jaw growth and spacing while they are easy to guide. For teens, treatment during the growing years often gives the best results. For adults, it is never too late. Many of our adult patients straighten their teeth for both their health and their confidence.
Children (Ages 7-12)
- Early detection prevents complex issues
- Guides jaw growth naturally
- Can reduce the need for extractions
- Often means shorter treatment later
Teens (Ages 13-18)
- Treatment during the growth phase
- Builds confidence
- Multiple discreet options
- Good timing for correction
Adults (18+)
- Never too late for straight teeth
- A boost for your professional look
- Better long term oral health
- Discreet treatment options
The process
What to Expect During Treatment
Your treatment begins with a free consultation at our Ancaster clinic. We check your teeth, take X-rays and digital scans, and talk through your goals. From there we build a treatment plan that shows your options, the expected timeline, and the full cost.
When treatment starts, we fit your braces or aligners and show you how to care for them. You come in every four to eight weeks so we can check your progress and make small adjustments. Most patients finish in 12 to 24 months, and a retainer keeps your results in place afterward.
Cost and payment
Orthodontics Cost and Payment Options in Ancaster
The cost of orthodontic treatment depends on the type of treatment and how long it takes. As a general guide, braces and Invisalign in our area usually range from about $3,000 to $8,000. We give you an exact quote at your free consultation, with no surprises. Fees shown are estimates based on the ODA Fee Guide and may vary.
We know this is a real investment, so we make it manageable. We offer flexible payment plans that spread the cost across your treatment, and we provide direct insurance billing for plans that include orthodontic coverage.
A note on government coverage, because it is often misunderstood. The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) covers orthodontic treatment only in specific medically necessary cases with strict criteria, not for cosmetic straightening. Refugee coverage through IFHP generally does not cover orthodontics. We check your eligibility honestly and explain exactly what you would pay before you commit to anything. ODA Fee Guide

Common Questions About Orthodontics in Ancaster and Hamilton
When should my child first visit for an orthodontic evaluation?
Children benefit from an early visit around age seven. This helps identify concerns with growth, spacing or bite development so treatment can be planned at the right time.
Are braces or Invisalign better for adults?
Both work well. Adults often choose clear aligners for comfort and appearance but braces can be ideal for more complex alignment needs.
How long does orthodontic treatment usually take?
Does insurance cover orthodontics?
Do braces or aligners hurt?
Do I need a referral to start orthodontic treatment?
No referral is needed. You can book a free consultation directly with us, and we will assess your teeth and explain your options.
How much does an orthodontic consultation cost?
Your first consultation is free. We look at your teeth, answer your questions, and give you a clear treatment plan and quote with no obligation.
Do you offer payment plans for braces and Invisalign?
Yes. We offer flexible payment plans that spread the cost across your treatment, so orthodontics stays affordable for your family.
